iPhone Killer?!: Google's G1 Phone

If anyone has been paying attention Google has slowly been taking over the world. Their next form of domination, cellular phones. To battle the iPhone google is releasing its first mobile phone, the G1. The G1 will be released October 22nd on the T-Mobile network. The phone will operate on the "Android" OS system, made by google and sport a variety of features. Wifi, a 3 MP camera, google maps with street view, something that no iPhone currently has, and a QWERTY keyboard which is hidden under the 3.17" sliding screen. There are some setbacks such as no video playback or video recording, it's a little on the bulky side, and the music player is nowhere as good as the music player on the iPhone. The beauty of the phone though is its operating system and the possibilities of customization. The Google made "Android" OS system is an open source system where other programmers can create their own programs and features for the phone, such as a better music player and video compatibility. We'll have to just wait and see if the G1 will be able to dethrone the iPhone. (._.)

If you haven't heard there were reports that one of the engineers of the LA train that crashed this week was text messaging prior to the time of the crash but authorities will not release the time of the text message. I'm sure that wasn't the only factor in the crash but come on....really? (._.)

Trying to Recreate the Big Bang....STUP!D!

Yesterday an experiment began in Switzerland to recreate what is scientifically believed to have created the universe, the big bang. Physicist are using the underground Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the biggest and most complex machine ever made to have two forms of energy collide and as a result hopefully recreating some kind of big bang. They say nothing significant will happen for another 4 years but really, what's the point? If I remember right, this big LHC machine is underground in the earth and they want to recreate a "Big Bang." Well if part of the Earth explodes I guess it's all in the name of science. (._.)

Dark Knight to be Re-released!

The Dark Knight is coming back for round two! It's been reported that The Dark Knight will return in January to try and receive Oscars for Best Film and Best Actor: Heath Ledger as the Joker of course. January is prime time for the Academy Awards Voting Season, so hopefully some precise timing will get the movie the recognition and votes it deserves. Besides, I'll be able to see the movie for the 4th time, hopefully in iMAX. (._.)

New iPOD Nano!

The new iPOD Nano is out and it has a bunch of new features. Horizontal viewing is now available for video playback and "Coverflow" selection. You can also shake the nano to shuffle your music and a new feature on the nano actually creates playlists by what sounds good together. Someone also told me there are external speakers so you can listen to your music without headphones but I went to apple.com and didn't see anything about that, I'll just have to check it out for myself. Anyways, 8GB is $149 and 16GB is $199, which is fairly cheap for iPODs these days. (._.)

I Bleed Black and Gold, First Weekend In LB. iLL!

Finally went to some legit parties on Saturday since the beginning of the school year. First off, the TKE 3,000 jello shots was sick, so many people and so many jello shots. After the party got rolled it was time to kick it at the KE house. So many girls, looking good too! Two legit parties in one night, girls, rolling with the "squad," what more can you ask for...dope night. (._.)

Don LaFontaine (1940-2008)

Everyone out there has heard this guy's voice and automatically knows he is the official voice of the movies. It was reported that he voiced over 60 promotions a week and sometimes 35 in a single day. I wonder what the next movie preview or ad will sound like now. (._.)

Back to School!!!

Summer is official over and it's back to school. Today was a pretty chill day, had geology 102, Japanese 101, and Art History 111B. It was bananas all day on CSULB campus though. Students were everywhere and clubs and student organizations were out and about trying to recruit. Probably the biggest problem today though was the parking, anyone who drove to school today knows that it's a big problem. It was gridlock on all the main campus roads...good thing I live on campus. (._.)
