New Cell Phone Law Starts Tomorrow!

Well it's been a long time coming but for the residents of California, we will no longer be able to drive and talk on the phone at the same time...well at least not directly through our phones. July 1st will kick off the "Hands Free" law in California, which prohibits the use of a cell phone while driving. The only way calls can be handled on the road now is through hands free Bluetooth devices. This law applies for everyone ages 18 and older. For those younger than 18 and have their driver's license, there is no cell phone activity permitted at all, that includes making outgoing calls, incoming calls, and text messaging with and without a Bluetooth device. The first citation will be $91 and the second offense will be $211, a pretty hefty price for just picking up your phone. Fortunately, many police stations around San Diego report that there will be a 30 day grace period where offenders will be given a warning rather than a citation. Watching the news today one reporter stated that although direct cell phone use is now prohibited in a vehicle anyone 18 and over can still text message "while driving." Haha now I love texting as much as the next guy and some people are good at texting while driving but looking at what the new law is trying to enforce...doesn't that just defeat the whole purpose? Quantum of Solace Trailer

The trailer for the new Bond movie just came out today and it looks sick. I loved the last one, it took the Bond franchise in a new and good direction so I can't wait for this one. It comes out November 7. (._.)

Tha Carter III

Man...there is many things that can be said about Lil Wayne and "the best," is definitely one of them. Just like over a million other people just like me, I have been listening to Tha Carter III all summer long. Wayne's long awaited album finally dropped and sold a record one million plus albums in its first week alone! The last time an artist pushed over one million records in a single week was back in 2004 with 50 Cent's "The Massacre" LP. No matter how you look at the album, it is extremely dynamic. With 16 tracks and 4 bonus tracks on the actual physical album (for those who actually bought it...ha I found these tracks leaked on the net anyway.) there is everything from the club bangers to the songs only Lil Wayne could produce. Of course there is "Lollipop" and "A Milli" which were both hits before the album even hit shelves. "Mrs. Officer" and "Shoot Me Down" are among my favorite tracks on the entire album. My absolute favorite track on the album though was "You Ain't Got Nuthin'" featuring Juelz Santana and Fabolous, it's so good, matter of fact it's my myspace profile song :). If you're into hip hop, you call yourself a "true" hip hop fan, or you just want to know what real hip hop is suppose to sound like, get this album NOW! Lil Wayne is on top of the world and as the hip hop game 's greatest MC right now, this album is definitely a testament to that. (._.)

Seeing Sounds

The latest album released by the group N.E.R.D (No One Ever Really Dies) is definitely a great album. When looking at the list of tracks included in the album many people would probably not recognize anything but as soon as you hear the album many of the songs become very familiar. If you've seen the mp3 player Zune's latest commercial for unlimited downloads for $14.99/month, the song that is played in the background is "Spaz" from the album. I've probably seen and heard that commercial a thousand plus times already. Another great track is "Everyone Nose" which was leaked on to the internet late in 07' with the catchy line, "All the girls standing in the line for the bathroom!" Another one of my personal favorite tracks to look out for is "Anti Matter. " Get this, there are some really unique sounds and themes that you don't see in a lot of other music today. The tracks will definitely get stuck in your head. (._.)

CarlsBAD!

Went to Carlsbad to hangout with my friends from Long Beach State. Plan was to go to the beach but it was too cold, so we just chilled. Shout out to T Strack haha and the "Haters." See I told you I was going to blog this, beezies! (._.)

Soulja Boy vs. Ice T

If you haven't heard about it here it is. Ice T recently made a mix tape where he talks about how Soulja Boy's music is garbage and that he "single handily ruined hip hop."

Ice T.'s Video:

Soulja Boy comes back with his own video response, saying Ice T is an "Old as fuck!"

Soulja Boy's Video:

Finally, in another video Ice T. apologizes...but not really. He tells Soulja Boy he's, "fucked up."

Ice T's 2nd video:

Personally, I think Ice T is wrong and whack for what he said. All he is doing is hating on Soulja Boy and his music. Now yes, Ice T. is a hip hop veteran and "Superman" will never get any awards for lyrics but that doesn't make it garbage and not hip hop. Like Soulja Boy said, it's a new game. Besides if Ice T wants to argue and dis rappers and songs that he thinks have no substance why doesn't he say something to Lil Wayne who recently released a song, which repeats the word "Lollipop" a hundred times, that doesn't make it a bad song and it doesn't make it not hip hop. Point is things are different from when Ice T was in the game and he shouldn't be talking about something he has no idea about. Leave comments and tell me what you think. (._.)

Shaq Disses Kobe

This is crazy! I mean it is painful enough listening to Shaq rapping. Ha he has a lot of nerve when he's made movies like Shazam and a Shaq Fu video game. (._.)

Air Yeezies!!!

These shoes are so tight!!! Of course they're not even out in stores and who knows if they will ever be. West wore them to the Grammy's and is currently wearing them in his Glow in the Dark tour. If I can get my feet in these it's game over! (._.)

Verdict: The Love Guru

So I went to go see Mike Myer's latest movie on Friday night and it was pretty good. Playing another unforgettable character, Mike Myer's is a love guru whose name is impossible to spell so I'm not going to even try and he helps people find love where they think there is no more love. Myer's character is hired by Canadian hockey team owner, played by the lovely Jessica Alba to make a star hockey player fall in love again with his ex wife so he can get his game back. The ex wife who is played by Megan Good is currently dating the rival teams goalie played by Justin Timberlake, who is anything but normal. If you have ever watched an Austin Powers movie or a Mike Myer's movie for that matter watching this movie you can't help but see Myer's distinct humor pour through the scenes. Don't get me wrong, Myer's jokes will have you rolling but some of the humor through the movie seemed a little tired and predictable. Definitely the best comedy of the summer beating the Zohan and considering the fact I still haven't seen Get Smart. So if you're looking to laugh and you love Mike Myer movies, definitely check this one out. (4/5 *'s) (._.)

8 Limbed Baby Girl

The story is unbelievable. You think it is bizarre but wait until you actually see it. The girl was born with four arms and four legs and the people in her village believed her to be the reincarnation of the goddess in their religion. The girl has since gone through a risky surgery and doctors have reconstructed her body to give her only two legs and two arms. Check it out. (._.)

America's Best Dance Crew

My favorite MTV show is back and it premieres tonight with its second season. Personally although no one can beat the Jabbawockeez, the dance teams this time around look pretty sick. The west coast squads seem to be the best, look out for Supreme Soul and Super Cr3w. I think it is on the 10 spot on the west and 9 PM on the east. (._.)

She Kissed a Girl...

This song has been driving me crazy for the last week... but in a good way. "I Kissed a Girl," is blowing up the internet, the radio, MTV, you name it Kat Perry is probably been on it. The song is catchy and the girl is hot. So if you haven't already check her out, here is her Myspace profile. (._.)

Tiger!

Many people out there who knew the U.S. Open was in town but did not watch any of it probably automatically thought that Tiger Woods was going to take it all. Even though Woods did win the 108th annual U.S. Open Championship it wasn't without a fight. The tournament, which was scheduled to end yesterday went on today through an 18 holes playoff competing. Competing Woods was Rocco Mediate. Several times Tiger was behind Mediate, all the way up to the last hole, where he almost lost it all. But in sudden death Woods proved why he was the best in the world and finished on top. I'm not a big golf fan but today's match up was definitely exciting. (._.)

Stayin' Alive

Well I'm not going to say it was easy but the Lakers beat the Celtics tonight!!! Now it's back to B-Town where LA has to tie it up. They can do it. (._.)

Verdict: The Incredible Hulk

So I saw the big green fighting machine on Friday and it was awesome. The Incredible Hulk changes up David Banner's story of controlling the monster within by bringing in new actors, changing the atmosphere and adding some amazing CG effects. This time around David Banner is played by Edward Norton who is one of my favorite actors. Banner is on the run from the U.S. military who are trying to use his powers to create super soldiers. Banner's love interest is his past lab associate Elizabeth Roth who is portrayed by Liv Tyler. This is Tyler's second movie this summer, including the Strangers and she has been outstanding in both of them, not to mention easy on the eyes. Watching the entire movie is definitely a journey, in the beginning of the movie the pace is very slow but it helps to explain the dilemma and back story to Banner's life after becoming the Hulk. Once the movie gets to the action it's great. The transformation scenes alone are intense, the Hulk is truly a beast crushing everything in his path. There is so much testosterone in this movie it's ridiculous, when you see the Hulk in action his anger and emotions just pour out of the screen. The movie is really good, great action movie for the summer even hardcore comic book fans should love this movie. (4/5 *'s) (._.)

NOTE: If you saw Iron Man this summer, there's a nice little surprise in the movie too.

Beach Trip

Well I made my second trip to the beach this summer with a bunch of my friends. Actually I went to two beaches, La Jolla Shores and Mission Beach. Unfortunately, it was overcast at both beaches but it didn't stop me from getting in the water. My friend and I skim boarded for a while at Shores and then bounced to Belmont Park at Mission Beach. We didn't hit the water there but there was definitely a ton of characters out and about strolling through all the outdoor shops. My friends were looking into getting some piercings and tattoos so we checked out some tattoo parlors while we were down there. Ha, no one ended up getting anything though. Afterwards we were off to the smoke shop from my friends' smoking pleasures. The guy working the store, didn't get his name, was tripping me out. It was almost like he was a modern day hippie. He told us about all his individual bongs and how he had given them all their own names. And as we were about to make our way out of the store, he began to tell us about how he likes passing on positive energy through people with back massages and my friend opening his big mouth ended up getting a back massage from him. Awkward doesn't even begin to describe this moment, check it out in the video. NOTE: If you look at the guys jacket he has all the names of his bongs pasted on it. Overall the trip was a lot of fun, I'm sure there are a lot more trips to come. (._.)

New iPhone!

Well in true Apple fashion, starting July 11th the company will release the next generation of iPhone, "iPhone 3G." The announcement was made today in San Francisco at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. The new iPhone will sport a faster network, loading web pages on its browser at broadband speeds, opposed to the slower speeds of the AT&T EDGE network, which is currently used by the present iPhone. Trying to appeal to the corporate user, the iPhone will now be capable of utilizing and running Microsoft Exchange, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. These additions hope to bring the iPhone into the business place and hopefully make it possible to compete and dethrone the current business cell phone king, Blackberry. Along with these new programs, the iPhone will come with new powerful hardware that will be capable of running multimedia programs including games and even musical composition programs. There will also be a new enhanced GPS feature that can pinpoint a users exact location and even give turn by turn directions at anytime. All these enhancements are found in the new "iPhone 2.0" update which can be downloaded now for current iPhone users. What is more exciting is there is a significant price drop, the 8GB phone will be $199, while the 16GB will be $299. The 8GB model will retain the black casing but the 16GB model will have the option of coming either in the tradition black case or a new white case. With 5.5 million iPhones already sold since last year in the U.S. will this move put the phone in more peoples hands by the end of the year? Well here's hoping that there is one in my hand by the end of 08'. (._.)

Verdict: You Don't Mess With the Zohan

So I went to the movies last night with some friends and saw the "Zohan" and the movie was definitely funny. If you don't already know the story, Adam Sandler plays an Israeli counter terrorist who is ridiculously good at his job. After becoming tired of the continuous fighting between the Israelites and Palestinians he goes to America to become a hair stylist. The jokes and scenarios in this movie will have you laughing, but don't expect any political correctness. This movie is filled with stereotypes about Jews, Israelites, Palestinians, Americans, terrorists among other things. What really makes the movie great though is Adam Sandler and his character. The Zohan is the perfect killing machine but is also a professional disco dancer, hackie sack player, and has the sex drive that pleases any woman. No matter what he does you'll find yourself laughing. For anybody who knows him, the comedian Nick Swardson is also in the film and does a great job of keeping the laughs coming when Sandler isn't on the screen. A con to the movie though was that some of the stereotypes and jokes were a little over the top and it was obvious that some of the writers were trying to hard. Other than this, the movie was great and really funny, see it with your family, your friends, your guy, or your girl and it'll be a good time. (3/5 *'s) (._.)

NBA Finals

Boston vs. Los Angeles tonight in game 1 of the NBA Finals. Celtics will host the first of what should be an epic series. This match up surely has some nostalgic value to it, bringing back memories of players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson playing in the 1987 NBA Finals. With one of the greatest NBA rivalries, the Finals this year are going to be awesome. (._.)

Dream Ticket?

Depending on your involvement and interest in politics, you may have already heard that Hillary Clinton has reported that she is "open" to run as Barrack Obama's Vice President candidate. This comes at the end of a heated, controversial, and expensive primary campaign. People have complained that the Democratic party has become increasingly divided and rightfully so with an African American and Female candidate running for office. The primary election is coming to a close and with many eyes on Obama as the designated Democratic nominee, there is concern of how he will respond to Clinton's statement. Some view that Obama owes Clinton nothing and that if in fact she loses the primary election to Obama she should just accept defeat. On the other hand people feel that Obama must show Clinton some form of respect if he truly wants to satisfy the entire Democratic party by offering her campaign staff positions or even offering her the VP candidacy with him. Democrats are afraid that if some form of gesture is not made by Obama then some people may jump ship in retaliation and vote Republican; John McCain. Whatever happens it will surely be an election for the ages.

Universal Lot Fire

On Sunday morning, June 1st a fire broke out in the back lot of the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. The fire was reported to have been started by an employee repairing a roof on a set. The fire destroyed many significant structures, including sets used in countless movies and even sets used in the theme park's tour tram ride, including....sadly, the King Kong attraction. I have been going to Universal Studios Hollywood since I was very little and it is one of my favorite theme parks period, so it was sad to hear this news. Fortunately, it has been reported that plans have already been made to remake the old sets and attractions and to make new attractions and sets as well. (._.)

MTV Movie Awards...sick!

Now a days, one of the only things worth watching on MTV, the MTV Movie Awards. This year's show surprised me and did very well. Mike Myers was an awesome host, he did some very funny skits, he even brought back Wayne's World! Coldplay and the Pussycat Dolls both performed but I was way more excited to see Coldplay, their new song is really good. I was shocked to see that Jessica Alba was on the show pregnant. I mean I already knew but it was the first time I saw her since the announcement. I've always had a huge crush on her so I still haven't completely gotten over the fact that she is married and pregnant :(. Ha there were also some crazy moments such as the dance off between Mike Myers and Chris Brown, Seth Rogen and James Franco smoked a blunt of "fake" weed, and Wayne's Top Ten, Aside from all this, a bunch of new movies got their names out there including, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Tropic Thunder. The biggest thing for me of the night though was seeing Megan Fox and her saying that Transformers 2 was going to be "F****** awesome!" Anyway, if you didn't catch it MTV will be showing reruns of the show for like the next week and if you have to see it right now go to their site: MTV.com. (._.)

Video Addiction

As most of my friends know, I'm a Youtube addict. I could spend all day looking at videos on the site but I realized that might not be the best thing for my health. Anyways I thought I would share what I'm watching, so on my side bar I'm putting a new section, "Top 5 Video Addictions." These are all videos that I'm currently in love with and I'll update it as soon as I find new videos I like and considering that I go to Youtube everyday it'll be updated frequently. Verdict: The Strangers

This is the first scary/horror film that I have seen in theaters in a long time but I was surely not disappointed . The Strangers was an awesome scary movie, a movie sure to make you cringe. Starting off, the story is very straight forward, a couple goes to a remote, deserted house and are preyed on by three psychos in masks, so don't go expecting an elaborate story. But with a movie like this the real meat is not in the story but its scare tactics. From the beginning of the movie pretty much to the end, the movie is covered in silence, which creates this nerving atmosphere of anticipation and fright. The two main characters do a great job of showing their emotions and you can't help but feel for them in their time of desperation. Another thing to take note of in this movie is all of its sounds. Since there is so much silence within the movie, every little sound will make you jump, creaking doors, fire, footstep, and even an eerie sounding record player. Overall this is a great movie to go see if you and your girl (or boy) are looking for a suspenseful night or you just happen to be a horror fan. (4/5 *'s) (._.)
